Along with the traditional pub, which sits over 50 people, we also have two private dining rooms that are available for special occassions or small functions. Our rooms are situated on the ground floor and are completely private. Guests can choose from one of our set menus, or we can create a bespoke menu if required. The food is freshly prepared, and as with all food at the Red Lion, homemade and locally sourced.

There are two private dining rooms to choose from:

The Old Stable is a stunning room, with plenty of period features and rustic charm. It can seat up to 36 people, and offers complete privacy from the pub. Of course, you’re always welcome to explore or to top up at the bar! The room is set informally with various table sizes, and is perfect for larger celebrations or meetings.


The Saddle Room is a smaller and more intimate dining room, and is great for a party of up to 20 people. We are happy to set the tables up in ‘banquet style’, so you can enjoy the company of all your guests on one table. The Saddle Room offers complete seclusion with all the style and charm of a traditional Peak District Inn.

Both rooms offer luxurious leather dining chairs and oak tables. The original beams have been retained and are complemented with the new oak floors. The blend of the traditional with more modern elements offers a relaxing and refreshing dining experience.

Our dining rooms are available from Tuesday to Friday and Sunday evenings for private parties. Unfortunately we do not cater for children, but they are more than welcome in the traditional part of the pub until 8:30pm. There are no additional charges for either of our private dining rooms, we simply ask for a £5 per person non refundable deposit at the time of booking.
